Congratulations to Clayton Lead Teacher, Diana Casillas, who was recently honored with the Champion of Inclusive Practices Award at the annual Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Conference. While this recognition is a personal triumph for Diana, it also reflects the values we at Clayton hold dear. Her collaborative spirit and commitment to advocating for children with diverse needs have helped shape Clayton’s culture.
A 23-year Clayton veteran, Diana has worn many hats as a Home Visitor, Teacher, and now Lead Teacher, where her teaching practice is rooted in her belief that every child, regardless of background or ability, feels seen, understood, and valued. Whether supporting children with disabilities, helping them navigate emotions, or celebrating each child’s unique identity, Diana creates a safe, welcoming space where differences are celebrated, not merely tolerated. Whether it’s offering extra support for a neurodiverse student or calmly helping a child through a challenging day, Diana’s empathy shines through.
Diana’s ability to foster strong, trusting relationships with families has made her a key figure at Clayton. Parents often marvel at her attentiveness and dedication. One parent shared, “Ms. Diana truly understands my child’s needs. Her classroom is a place of warmth and order, where my daughter feels safe and excited to learn. Diana’s commitment makes all the difference.”
This award is a well-deserved recognition of Diana's outstanding contributions and highlights the collective excellence of Clayton’s team of educators as one shining example of our pledge to create environments where all children and families feel supported. As everyone at Clayton proudly celebrates this award, it’s clear that Diana Casillas is indeed a Champion of Inclusive Practices.
